19th August 2023 – President’s Day
Wild and Windy – a very apt description of President’s day. Playing conditions were very testing and extremely difficult, the strength of the wind heralded a tough battle ahead . A full field of members teed up to put their golfing skills to the test. Not all of them completed the course.

The inflatable tent at halfway house was heavily secured and battened down and proved a haven for the players, where hot drinks, homemade cakes and biscuits were waiting for the wind battered golfers.

The challenges on the course reflected in the scores, there were no players under Par. The four best cards all scored Nett 73, and places were decided on a card play-off.
David Kavanagh had the winning score, with 79 – 6 = 73. Best gross with 80 – 4 = 76 was Mark Tyson. The second prize went to Gordon Brackwell, and third was Steve Braithwaite. Ross Tippett just lost out with his 73 nett, but had a “2” on the 4th, for which he was rewarded with 9 balls. Other two’s were, on the 4th – Noel Johnson and Harold Sawrey and on the 14th Ron Wilson. Nearest the pin prizes went to Ron Wilson on the 14th and Karl Shepherd second shot on the 17th.

Mr. President and Christine were joined by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren for the presentation, and there was a delightful spread of Chicken Curry pulled pork buns, garlic mushrooms rice and naan bread to follow, provided by Tracy Taylor. To round off the day, Billy’s Disco and Karaoke. There was a very well supported raffle which raised £370 for future club projects. Thank you Mr. President for another Great Day at Dunnerholme
