Captain’s Day-21/06/2025
Saturday dawned fine and cloudy but with a threat of rain throughout the day. The forecast didn’t discourage the 70 golfers playing for the Captain’s Cup.
A couple of heavy showers cooled the air and with more receptive greens brought home some exceptional scores.

The Presentation of Prizes in the evening, was “standing room only” as players, members, wives, friends and guests all gathered in the clubhouse for this exceptional evening, as it also marked the 50th anniversary of Brian’s father, Jack Evans’ Captain’s year 1975 – a very special and proud day for Mr. Captain and Dunnerholme Golf Club.
Mr. Captain thanked the Greens Chairman and Greens Staff, Vice Captain and his team of volunteers who worked tirelessly in the days prior to the competition, to present the course in outstanding condition. Brian also expressed his appreciation and thanks to the team of volunteers who fed and watered the competitors at halfway house, and to the bar staff and caterers, and to competition organisers. A final but very special thank you to his wife, Lorraine, who had organised everything, kept things on track and made sure the weekend went like clockwork.

Firstly Brian had a couple of additional prizes to present

First to his old friend Karl Shepherd for demonstrating his shanking prowess all day, and then finally at the bar, managing to knock his drink all over him and Lorraine

Brian presented a Gleneagles Pen to Dave Coverdale, for his continuous and unceasing support
