The Junior Girls Go North

Dunnerholme Junior Organiser Irene Brough and four of our junior girls made a very early 7.15am start to the Eden Golf Club, near Carlisle.

Penny Brough, Annie Coward, Amber Butler and Amelia Butler were excited to be given the opportunity to attend Cumbria Junior Girls Coaching and Fun Day for the North of the County.

They arrived in good time for the 9.30am registration before going out on to the practice area and the driving range for a morning of fun, coaching and games. In the afternoon, the girls were given the opportunity to play a few holes on the nine hole Hadrian’s course.

Cumbria County Junior Organiser Anne Crockett led the session, assisted by the County President Carol Slater and Cumbria County Vets player Rosie Waller.

Rosie took Penny and Annie out on the course and shared her golfing knowledge and tips with the girls, and rising star Rebecca Wildey took Amber and Millie out on the course. Eden Professional Tom Hodgson, who was full of fun, was on site to encourage the youngsters and ensure they all enjoyed the day.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our girls to meet and interact with other Juniors of similar abilities and to meet young golfers who may be the stars of the future.

Cumbria County Organisers plan to hold further sessions so our girls can look forward to another chance to shine. They had a wonderful time and bonded really well — a real credit to our Junior Section.

We extend our sincere thanks to Mary Doherty and Rachel and Tom Butler for their support with transport to the Eden Golf Club. Special thanks to Anne Crockett and the Cumbria County Junior Team for a truly inspiring day.
