{"id":12166,"date":"2023-07-08T14:50:33","date_gmt":"2023-07-08T14:50:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dunnerholme.co.uk\/golf\/?p=12166"},"modified":"2023-07-09T16:26:22","modified_gmt":"2023-07-09T16:26:22","slug":"saturday-8th-july-2023-captains-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dunnerholme.co.uk\/golf\/news\/saturday-8th-july-2023-captains-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Saturday 8th July 2023 &#8211; Captain\u2019s Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>With weather storm warnings in place, over 80 members took to the links for Alan Bolton\u2019s Captain\u2019s Day. <br>The course looked spectacular in the early morning sunshine but the storm clouds soon gathered, rolling in up the Estuary, and by mid-day the first few drops of rain were falling and just an hour later torrential rain battered the golfers.  <br>Then, the sound that no golfer likes to hear &#8211; the Claxon, as the thunder and lightening rattled around the Bay and the golfers had to leave the course. Nothing was going to dampen the spirit of Captain\u2019s Day, and the Clubhouse was soon packed, including the Marquee, which was definitely a bonus as the rain was relentless. After the storm delay, the competition was resumed.<br>In the evening, Alan welcomed members, guests and family to the  Presentation before going on to thank &#8216;Team Dunnerholme&#8217; for sharing the load and making his day \u2018just perfect\u2019,  the commitment from members and volunteers had been, as always,  truly amazing, and not even the weather could spoil his day. <br>When the Competition Results were announced, only four players had managed to score a 2 &#8211; Steve Knott, Dave Coverdale, Russ Bolton and Michael Garnett. <br>Nearest the Pin on 14th was won by Mark Barrett.   The Longest Drive was won by Mark Sawrey, who had smashed a drive down the 16th fairway a distance most of us can only dream of!
