John Diamond Junior Trophy

On a sunny but breezy evening 30 juniors participated in two competitions held in memory of the late John Diamond.

Four juniors took part in a 9-hole Stableford comp with 5 teams playing a Team scramble comp over five holes. For some juniors this was their first experience of competitive golf with a few recently joined members participating.

Once the 9-hole competitors got underway the teams and playing format was explained.

The teams that took to the course were

Team Brough – Annie Coward, Dexter Case, Ollie Ritchie, Harry Anderson, Rowan Bolton

Team Clinton – Harry Mason, Millie Butler, Theo Gordon, Ellis Bolton

Team Coverdale – Jonah Rigg, Maggie Butler, Jack Ritchie, Doug Alexander, Leo Darby

Team Pearce – Oliver Pearce, Libby Tyson, George Kavanagh, Evan Coward, Noah Elliott

Team Porter – Oliver Laisby, Esme Porter, Henry Sharpe, Zac Roche, Ethan Ramos-Duran

It was obvious that the juniors were putting into practice their skills they had learnt over the last few months onto the course with some exceptional golf being played by all.

Results on the night were:-

JD 9 Hole Comp

1st – Morgan Postlethwaite

2nd – Max Porter

3rd – Dexter Stoker

4th – Sophie Ackred

JD Team Comp

All the juniors received a bag of goodies and burger & chips & drinks afterwards in what was a lovely event.

Mr Vice Captain, Dave Coverdale presented prizes to the 9-Hole competitors and Mark Diamond presented prizes to the Team competitors.

A big thankyou to all the ‘Team’ Dunnerholme members who supported the event who I will name as it was really appreciated by us all and the Diamond Family:-

Rachel & Tom Butler, Liz Dixon, Bart Porter, Gordon Brackwell, Steve Tippet, Curtis McAloone, Mary Doherty, Andrew Laisby, Chris Pearce & Alan Bolton

Special thanks to Terry Stokes for the donation of prizes, Rachel, Amber & Janet for the catering and least but not last all the juniors for making it such a wonderful event.

On behalf of the juniors and as an expression of our thanks, a bouquet of flowers were given to Rachel & Holly with a ‘framed’ Dunnerholme flag presented to Mark.

It was really pleasing to see the Diamond Family members here in memory of John. And in the words of Mark himself “Dad would have been so proud as are me and Holly, a truly amazing event much appreciated by the family”.
