Local Rules (2023 and beyond)

LOCAL RULES (as shown on latest card of the course).

1. Out of Bounds (Rule 18.2)

i. A ball is out of bounds when it is beyond any white stakes or lines defining the boundary of the course.

ii. The course boundary fence beside the railway.

iii. The Clubhouse Complex, including the Putting Green.

iv. 1st/11th – Perimeter fence/hedge on the left and on or over the road on the right.

NB. 5th – White stakes beyond the green relate to 7th and DO NOT define OOB on the 5th.

v. 6th – Cottages, buildings and gardens to the right and wooden shed complex to the left, white stakes to left and behind green

vi. 7th – Cottages, buildings and gardens to the right as defined by white stakes.

vii. 10th/18th – Area defined by white stakes to the right, workshops complex as defined by stone wall and building.

2. Abnormal Course Conditions (Including Immovable Obstructions)(Rule 16.1)

i. Any artificially surfaced pathways, roads, marker discs, telegraph poles and drain covers are immovable obstructions.

ii. At the player’s option, dung from sheep may be treated as:

• A loose impediment that may be removed under Rule 15.1, or

• Ground under repair from which relief is allowed under Rule 16.1.

If the dung is found on the putting green, the player may remove the dung from the line of play. If doing so improves the line of play or other conditions affecting the stroke, there is no penalty under Rule 8.1a.

iii. Boulders to the right of 1st/11th fairway free drop.

3. Penalty Areas (Rule 17)

When a player’s ball is in a penalty area, including when it is known or virtually certain to be in the penalty area even though not found, the player may take relief using one of the options under Rule 17.1b.

4. Ball Deflected by Power Line

If it is known or virtually certain that a player’s ball hit a power line or a wire or pole supporting a power line during the play of holes 5/15 and 8/16 the stroke does not count. The player must play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made (see Rule 14.6 for what to do).

5. Integral Parts of the Course

Walls, Bridges, Boulders, Steps and Built up tees are integral parts of the course. The ball must be played as it lies or declared unplayable.

6. Bridge Approaches

Paths of bridge approach are a free drop. But over water is play as it lies or penalty drop.
