Dunnerholme in the Pink

August 22nd Friday afternoon, Members, Guests and Friends gathered in the clubhouse ready for a shotgun start to the Charity Pink Day Competition. The proceeds are for Mr Captain’s Charity McMillan Nurses and Lady Captain’s charities Breast Cancer Now and Blood Cancer UK

Waiting to sign in – Gill Newsome, appropriately dressed in Pink, hands out the Cards to Competitors – Gill is the driving force behind all social events at Dunnerholme ably supported by Ken.

The afternoon was overcast with a cool wind, but the players were all keen to get to the tees and get on their way.

The Member golfers played the ball to the green and the Guest or the Junior, putted the ball into the hole.

Meanwhile back at the Clubhouse, Lynda was busy finding the winners, whilst the players tucked into Pink Cakes, biscuits and snacks provided, and Irene and Bill sold tickets for the raffle table full of generously donated prizes. Finally our Dunnerholme Junior members distributed Stand Up Bingo cards to everyone in the Clubhouse and the game was eventually won by Sophie Ackred.

Meg Tyson, thanked the organisers, Dunnerholme Golf Club and all the Competitors for supporting the charities so generously, as she herself had personal experience of the work of the cancer charities, she had recently been told she was in remission.

The Board of personal messages of appreciation, for the work the charities do, and words of loving remembrance for friends and family who had been in their care.
