Frank Stokes Par 3 Challenge Trophy 2023

Dunnerholme was bathed in glorious sunshine for the Frank Stokes Par 3 Challenge Trophy 2023. The annual event is now a firm favourite with club members from all sections of the club. The early morning mist cleared as a full field of competitors gathered outside the clubhouse, awaiting instructions for the shotgun start. After the walk to the tees, the klaxon signalled and the players teed off for the 10, par 3 holes. The Stokes family welcomed the players back into the clubhouse after play, for the presentation.
Club Captain Alan Bolton spoke fondly of his memories of Frank, which included golf, beer and special friends. Dunnerholme proudly continues those special friendships and considers it an honour to play for Franks Trophy.
Janet Stokes presented the prizes to the winners with 2 nearest pin prizes won by Graham Allen on the 4th and Dave Tippett on the 9th. The main competition provided some great scoring with Steve Knott taking 3rd position with 22points. Roy Harris, Dons Captain, was runner up with 23points. Winner of the Frank Stokes Trophy 2023 was the inform Sean McLoughlin scoring an outstanding 26points. Including the trophy, Sean was presented with a Gin & Tonic Gift Basket.
Thank you to all the Stokes Family for continuing the golfing traditions with Dunnerholme and especially the home made cakes, which Franks four grandchildren shared around the clubhouse afterwards.
