Frank Stokes Par 3 Challenge

The wind and rain forecasted for Saturday, stayed away for what is proving to be one of the most popular events in the Club Fixture list – The Frank Stokes Memorial Par 3 Challenge.
Forty-eight members teed off from a 2.00pm shotgun start and were welcomed back into the clubhouse two hours later by the Stokes Family. Captain Bill Brough praised the greens staff for presenting a testing par 3 course, in outstanding condition. He went on to explain to the packed clubhouse exactly what the Stokes Family have brought to Dunnerholme over the years.
Three of Frank’s grandchildren, Amber age 12, Amelia age 8, and Sam age 11, are all keen members of the Junior Section and will soon be joined by the youngest grandchild, Sophia.
Rachel, Frank’s daughter, is an active member of the Junior Committee, working hard and supporting our thriving Junior section.
It was a fitting tribute to Frank and his family when Mr Captain invited all four grandchildren to take part in the Prize Presentation.
There were two Nearest the Pin Prizes, won by Alistair Gray and Tyron Currie.
Best Ladies Prize was won by Heather Hendley with a net 32.
The Trophy had to be decided on a count back, with two players scoring a net 28. Darren Walker was the trophy winner, narrowly beating runner up, Chris Porter. Darren also collected a lovely framed, golfing themed drawing created by Amber Butler in memory of her Grandad.
