Remembering Betty

Betty Blamire Age 86, passed away on Tuesday 26th December 2023.

Betty was a member at Dunnerholme for 52 years, having Joined with husband Eddie in 1971

She became Lady Captain for the first time in 1975, and remained in office for a second year as Eddie was elected Club Captain in 1976, and they were Captain’s together.

In 1989/90 Betty took office as Lady President, once again she and Eddie shared a President’s year as Eddie was Club President in 88/89.

Betty was Lady Captain for a third time in 2000.

In 2005, the Club’s Centenary Year, Betty was given the honour of Life Membership, an award of which she was very proud, and was the first Lady

member to achieve this accolade, She was also made a Trustee of the Club.

Betty took a full part in all the Club’s activities and functions, both official and as a keen and competitive golfer.
She was a regular contributor to Dunnerholme Ladies Cake stall and helped raise funds for local and national charities.

She continued to help and support the Ladies section even after she was unable to play through ill health.
