Captain’s 2023 Junior Competition Day

Club Captain, Alan Bolton, who is also one of our Junior Section Coaches, wanted to include our young golfers in his Captain’s Day celebrations. He provided a fantastic evening of competition for the entire Junior Section, in various formats.
Four of the clubs most experienced Juniors played a 9 hole game.
Twenty one juniors, played four holes matches in the GolfSixes format and three new Juniors tested their putting skills on the putting green.
After the matches, Alan, assisted by his wife Lyndsey and son Steve, provided hotdogs for everyone and the competitors all received a gift from Mr Captain for supporting his tournament.
Score cards were checked and verified by Alan and Coach Martin Porter, while the packed clubhouse awaited the results.
The 9 hole Competition was won by Toby Lowes – 16 points, in second place Harrison Laing – 15 points, third place was Joe Dawes – 8 points.
The GolfSixes competition was also a close game. Winners were Sam Stokes and Noah Harrison with 27 points, and after a Card Play Off Sam Pearson and Morgan Postlethwaite took 2nd place with 26 points from, in third place also with 26 points, Brad Foxon and Bobby Salisbury. The Putting Competition was won by Esme, who scored 5 points, 2nd place with 4 points was Riley and third with 2 points was Corey.
The Junior’s Competition provided Mr. Captain with a fantastic start to his Celebrations and at the end of the evening Amber Butler presented him with a gift from Dunnerholme Juniors, not only as a thank you, but also in recognition of his commitment and dedication to their Section.
