Gents Club Trip 2023

Mottram Hall, Cheshire was the venue for the Gents Club Trip 2023 with forty players competing for the Jack Kellett Shield. The parkland golf course is renowned for being a tough, challenging venue and the Dunnerholme players can now confirm that fact. Over the two days of competition, 276 balls were lost, averaging 6.9 balls per player!
The competition was hard fought, as always and the result had to be decided on a count back. It was a ‘back 6’ decision that eventually split the two players with Tyron Currie lifting the Shield from Ged Dixon. The ‘Over 55’s Trophy’ was won by Ged. Brian Evans was the only player to score a ‘2’ – an indication of just how difficult the Mottram course proved.
The second day of competition was a team event requiring two players to score on each hole. Honours were taken by Steve Knott, Darren Walker, Dave Coverdale and Steve Tippett, with a score of 91 points.
The gents are now looking forward to the Club Captain, Alan Bolton’s ‘Captains Trip’, visiting Lancaster Golf Club on Friday 23rd July. New balls definitely required!
